Delusion Disorder
Despite evidence to the contrary, a delusion is a persistent false belief based on an incorrect interpretation of an external reality that is not typically shared by other members of the subculture.
Delusions are classified based on a particular themes:
* Erotomanic: Those who suffer from this delusional type think that they are in love with someone else, usually someone significant or well-known. They might make an effort to get in touch with the delusional individual and participate in stalking.
* Grandiose: Those who suffer from this kind of delusional condition have exaggerated notions of their own value, strength, wisdom, or identity. They can think they have a special talent or a significant discovery.
* Jealous: individuals with this type of delusional disorder tend to believe that their spouse or sexual partner are not loyal and faithful without any concrete evidence.
* Persecutory: People with this type of delusional disorder believe someone or something is mistreating, spying on or attempting to harm them (or someone close to them). People with this type of delusional disorder may make repeated complaints to legal authorities.
* Somatic: individuals with this type of delusional disorder have a belief that they are undergoing a medical problem such as bad odour or parasite
* Mixed: People with this type of delusional disorder have two or more of the types of delusions listed above
Types:
Agoraphobia: It is one of the common types of phobia which is characterised by an irrational fear of being in crowded, public, open places away from the familiar setting of home.
Social phobia: An individual experiences an irrational fear of social contact and performing activities in front of others. The individual is afraid of being negatively evaluated by others which will result in humiliation & embarrassment.
Specific phobia: An individual has an irrational fear of a specific object or situation. For e.g, acrophobia: fear of high places, zoophobia: fear of animals, xenophobia: fear of strangers, algophobia: fear of pain, and claustrophobia: fear of closed places.
