Intellectual disability

A person is said to have an intellectual disability (or ID) if they are limited in their cognitive abilities, including their capacity to communicate, interact with others, and take care of themselves. Due to these restrictions, a child may grow and learn more slowly or otherwise differently than a child who is developing normally. Before a child becomes 18 years old, intellectual disability can develop at any time, even before birth.
