Internship
The aim of this internship program is to help students increase their competence by developing their skills, values and ideas and impart therapy skills. At MCC we provide the students with an opportunity to develop a more realistic view of what is expected of them in the real world. We provide them a space where they can learn to communicate effectively with mentors, co-workers and clients and acquire new skills through training and to strengthen old ones through practice.
The internship includes basic understanding of child and adult psychopathology, case history taking and mental status examination. Interns are provided with the opportunity to observe, client intake sessions, psychological assessments and observing child therapy and cognitive retraining sessions, and conducting assessments under supervision.
By the end of the program, students will be more confident and competent, possessing more professional skills. They will develop competence in a variety of areas, such as identifying signs of common mental health conditions, history taking and MSE, conceptualising the information, planning for treatment, developing their knowledge of ethical practices, learning to maintain professional relationships and become more competent in providing services, such as counselling, psychotherapy and crisis intervention.
